1. Making sure passport and other forms of ID are up to date.
I need to make sure that everything I need is up to date and that I made copies for my trusted person, I had to wait 30 days just to get an actual appointment for some things. I also cancelled my beloved wine club membership, it was a big deal for me! Its not easy finding the perfect wine it was my one luxury in life, you have your’s well that was mine. If you are ever in Murphy’s California check out Villa Vallecito Vinyards or at least its wine tasting shop, the Barbara and Payaso my favs!
2. I also cancelled/unsubscribed many others old/unwanted subscriptions.
I didn’t want a bunch of emails flooding my inbox distracting me from my soon to be journey. It was very freeing to do this, sometimes old habits even ones that seem so simple take up valuable time away from actual living. Sorry Hulu and Netflix, buddy you are next.
3. On very good advice I went through all of my old broken jewellery.
I didn’t have much but, I had at least 300.00 worth and that is a lot to me! I also rounded up all of the change I have been throwing in an old bag and I have to say…Find a penny and pick it up! I made it even more fun by having a small treasure hunt, checking over 3,000 pennies for a possible rare find, I never found one but I did find a nickel and one just like it fetched 300.00 so that was cool.
4. I still have not learned how to use tiktok, but thats ok.
I am set to visit my daughter and I’m sure her boys will give me the education I need, if not well you dear reader will be doomed with my horrendous attempts, besides this blog it will be the only social media that I use, I just ain’t got time for all of that!
5. I also purchased some equipment.
I have been researching travel blogs and going down lot’s of rabbit holes. There is just so much shit to learn! I bought a charger, and some type of hot spot maker thing. I also splurged on a travel size water pic! You do you, I’ma do me.
6. I made an inventory of things that I already have on hand.
So I bought this really great backpack/suitcase from Tortuga years ago and some lil packing cubes, I went to Italy and Greece on a solo trip for an entire month. and I have zero regrets on the money I spent, It was pricey but worth every penny. I watched so many people struggle with their bags a on trains, planes, boats, busses and on foot, I breezed pass with my Tortuga backpack strapped comfortably to me. Also I was way less tempted to buy a bunch of stuff, as I had nowhere to store it. I did splurge on some beautiful Italian made sandals though. I also learned that I packed too much even though I felt that I tried really hard not to. That was a vacation of a lifetime, and now this will be a journey of a lifetime.
7. I need to lose at least 20 lbs and thats a cold hard fact.
I listened to music last night as I made dinner, of course I danced like no one was looking, and today I my body responded. So yeah I owe my body the love that it deserves, and that love starts today. I will let you know how it goes. I also wore my hiking boots all over to break them in, Im nowhere near a mountain at present lol, flip flops are pretty much king here.
8. I have been trying to sell everything.
I have had no luck so far on craigslist, I don’t have FB, my daughter told me to try Offer Up, so thats next on the list. It has been an interesting process to go though my life like this. Going through the coins and seeing all of the past dates that I have lived through really put things in a present time perspective like, WTF have I done with my life! I have had Two vacations my entire life the rest has been spent working, Ugh. While going through my things I came to the realization that I don’t really have anything of value, basically I’m worthless, hahaha! While it was kind of sad it was also very freeing, sad to work and entire lifetime with zero to show for it, freeing because at least now I have no illusions about it.
